During the weekend of October 23-25, 2009, Dallas/Ft. Worth will play host to the Plus Teen USA, 2009 Pageant and Conference. Young ladies ages 13-19 who wear size 13 and up (junior size 12 and up), will gather together from all over the United States for fun, friendship, education, and inspiration to celebrate themselves in the skin they're in, while discovering their full potential from the inside, out. Contestants will walk away with a renewed sense of self esteem, self awareness, self image, self acceptance... SELF. Only one of the contestants, however, will walk away with the title of Plus Teen USA, 2009, a beautiful crown, minimum $500.00 scholarship, and numerous other fantastic prizes.
Contestants, regardless of race, family structure, and past pageantry experience, will compete in Personal Interview, Casual Wear, and Formal Wear competitions, with five finalists answering a final question to determine who will become Plus Teen USA, 2009. Contestants may also enter optional Photogenic, Performance Talent and Non-Performance Talent Competitions.
No Swimsuit or Pageantry Experience is Required for This Competition.
Recognizing the fact that many of our plus size teens struggle with poor self images and low self-esteem, during our Conference, expert speakers will utilize candid approaches to address these, and other issues and concerns of our contestants in hopes that they will come to recognize and embrace their inner beauty. Our Spokesperson, Featured Speaker, and Modeling Trainer, is none other than Sharon Quinn, the 6 foot, shaved-head beauty known as "The Original Runway Diva" who is infamous for her appearance on all three seasons of the Oxygen Network's popular, "MoNique's F.A.T. As a Plus Teen USA Contestant, you will enjoy featured speakers whose aim is to empower you with self-esteem, a positive body image, and a sense of purpose to propel you into your destiny. To prepare you for the pageant, we will utilize a modeling and pageant coach and professional choreographer to teach you the opening routine. Our industry professionals will also teach you basic modeling and pageantry and interview skills, as well as hair and make-up techniques for pageantry and the stage to help you become competitive. You will have the opportunity to be represented by a modeling agency, as agencies specializing in plus size teens will be invited to our pageant, and as always, will be seeking clients. Further, we provide some meals, and of course, a minimum $500.00 scholarship, sashes, trophies, a crown, and various other fantastic prizes for the contestant selected as Plus Teen USA, 2009.
